We were shocked and saddened to hear the news of the tragic passing of Ugo Ehiogu who graduated from our Effective Board Member Programme in 2015. He was an outstanding participant who engaged well with his peers and the entire process. Ugo was approachable, humble and well liked by our staff and all involved with the Programme. It was his drive to stand out from those around him, make a difference and impact the sport that led to him applying for the Programme, further demonstrated by him pursing a diploma in football management whilst working after graduating. Ugo was on his way to the top.
In January of this year when we interviewed him about his experience, he described the Programme as being “…extremely important” when thinking about the lack of diversity on football boards and it was this belief that drove Ugo to the heights of success he achieved during his life that has been so sadly cut short.
We are all devastated by his loss but proud to have had the privilege to work with him and will ensure his legacy continues to be upheld here at EBM.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this very sad time.
